FISH

Alright. Let me preface with, I HATE FISH. Love to eat it, hate to see it. I have never liked pet fish (at least since I killed my brothers fish by touching it too often one Sunday morning). I don't mind going to some one's home and seeing their large aquarium full of fish, I don't have to clean out the bowl of guck, watch for floaters, or remember to feed them. Well, a while ago, our neighbors were leaving town. They called to see if we could watch their fish. Their daughter was very concerned it would die while they were gone....They called to see if we would take it, sure I said. She brought the fish down early in the afternoon. Moments later the kids dumped the entire container of fish food into the bowl. The neighbor cleaned the bowl etc. It was all ok. Then 4 hours later the fish was floating. We called the neighbors, to let them know the bad news. I felt so bad. We had killed the darn thing before they even left on vacation. -Yeah great I can't even take care of a fish.
Yesterday, another neighbor calls to see if we can watch their two fish... I informed her of thee aforementioned disclaimer, and said we would still watch them if they wanted. She said sure, the blue fish hasn't eaten in a week, so if it dies no big deal... HMMM. (maybe word had gotten around the neighborhood about us). Husband drops of fish at 7:00pm... Fish alive at 10:00pm....Alive at 5:45am.... but I thought it was dead, laying on the rocks, then the other fish bumped into it and caused it to frantically flail about... 7:00am dead. Yep I left it in the bowl for another few hours just to make sure...No movement. Yep. Called the neighbors before they left on their vacation, just to let them know that sure enough the fish was dead. There comment? What, we haven't even left of vacation yet. (they weren't too surprised, as this fish has been floating at odd angles for at least a month, but still, it died on my watch) I still don't like fish. Yes, I will watch and feed your fish, but odds are...

Backpacks and Princess Pea
Well, it happened. I woke up one morning and sent my little boy off to kindergarten. Pretty tough. I took him to registration, introduced him to his teacher, went another day to see the classroom, went to back to school night......met the teacher... The best part, she, the teacher is in our ward, but I just wanted Benson to be very comfortable in his surroundings. He has done great and I was so nervous the first day of school, I didn't take any pictures---oops. But a neighbor was there and covered for me, but I don't have them yet.
Ana however is distraught without her ever present playmate. She frequently tells me she hates his school, it makes her angry inside..... Luckily she starts preschool next week, so that should help.
In other news, Ana had a birthday. She was so excited to invite a co
usin for a tea party. We had lunch complete with rasberry-huckleberry lemonade. (yes it is as delightful as it sounds) Then I made a princess and the pea cake. It was a pretty morbid cutting. Benson asked for the leg. Ana just wanted the head and pea pod....marshmallow fondant, the only way to go.
Ruby still exists, she is quite the little nut case. She is frequently found doing anything to get a laugh out of us. She has learned her first word with recognition....any guesses?
???
???
Thats right Ki Ki for the cat. Yep, not mom or dad, but cat...HMMM. We still love her anyway.
In other news, here are a few pics of the summer:
This is a picture of our most successful slug
hunt of the season. Benson locates, Ana
captures. We then take the lucky slugs to the
neighbors chickens who peck
them to there untimely death.
Any Guesses? Jay and I finally fiquired it out. The inside of the lawn mower clippings container... where is that camera. I just had it here on the counter...where did it go......

And one of Ruby. Black beans are delicious aren't they.

Oh what do you do in the Summertime
Well obviously we don't blog in the summer, or spring, or ... Well, I just wanted to post these cute pictures of Benson and Ana's room. I think the wall turned out really cute and goes with their sock monkey bedspreads. With the exception of a cramping forearm, it all went just like I wanted. I have a few more ideas for Ruby's room, but it may have to be a winter project. There are just too many outside plants that need moved, bike rides to go on, and summer sun t
o soak up. HUM, Got to go...
